Quilt Tutorial - Part 1
Fabric Requirements and Cutting Instructions:
8 Charm Packs - I used Terrain by Kate Spain
1 3/4 yards for corners - I used Moda Bella Solid White
1 3/4 yards for sashing - I used Moda Bella Solid White
5/8 yard coordinating fabric for Binding - I used Moda Bella Solid Terrain Iris 9900-168
7 1/2 yards coordination fabric for Backing - I used Terrain Stream Fern 27099-17
From the white fabric for corners:
Cut strips 2" x WOF. From this you will need to make 2"x2" squares. I took multiple of the 2" strips, lined them up and cut the 2" squares that way. It goes much faster! In total you will need 640 2" squares.
After you have your huge stack of 2" squares, you need to take a fabric pencil or tailors chalk and draw a line from corner to corner. This will be the line you will sew on and will ensure that your corners are straight.
From the white fabric for sashing:
Cut strips 2 1/2" x WOF. You will need 24 strips. Set aside. Please see note ** in Part 3 of the tutorial.
Now take your 8 charm packs and put like fabrics together. You will have two charm squares from each charm pack that you will not use. Preferably some of the duplicates. Therefore you will have 40 stacks of 8 charm squares.
